Winning The Battle Of The Mind

2 Corinthians 10:1-6 and Ephesians 6:10-12

Pastor Elie Hamuli

The enemy’s tool of choice is deception, and the battleground is inside the mind. In order to make you want what you already have, the devil bends the truth.
He gave Adam and Eve the impression that they want to be like God. He commanded Jesus, “If you are the son of God, do this: turn the stone into bread.” Jesus was already God’s son, but the point of this drama was to get Him to question and reflect on who He was and what He had. The devil can play with you if you entertain that doubt. The devil is powerless to harm you unless he has first deceived you.

In his deception, he always pushes you to seek what you seem not to have and despise what you already have. 2 Corinthians 11:3 says that he comes to corrupt your mind from the simplicity that is in Christ. He wants to convey that following the gospel is difficult and that living a holy life is impossible. He causes you to embrace negative thoughts so that you own them and live by them. As a believer, never own a thought that is not from God, but rather reject it and send it back to the devil. Take Paul’s advice in Ephesians 6:11 [AMP]; he said, “Put on the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.”

As mentioned in part one, having your mind fixed on Christ’s obedience is a solution to winning the battles in the mind. Because He obeyed, you can be called righteous. “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous” [Romans 5:19 NKJV]. Instead of defining yourself by your actions before accepting Christ, define yourself in accordance with what the Bible says, and observe how your life will change. Adam’s transgression caused us to become sinners, but when we put our faith in Jesus, we are declared righteous. Keep Jesus at the forefront of your thoughts.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” Isaiah 26:3 [NKJV]. When your mind is fixed on Him, what results from that is perfect peace. Perfect peace is what allows your soul to prosper. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” 3 John 1:2 [NKJV]. You can only prosper as far as your soul prospers. Prosperity starts from the inside. From Hebrews 13:17, we can also say that the prosperity of your soul comes from submitting to those who watch over your soul.

It is your duty to keep an eye on your soul, including your emotions, and identify if anything is preventing its growth. Unstable emotions, a lack of peace, and guilt are all indications that a soul is not flourishing. Thoughts aren’t always under your control, but you can keep an eye on your emotions. Learn to recognize the origin of each emotion and to reject any that will prevent your soul from prospering. Emotional health is important because it affects the health of your imagination. Imagination has creative power, and when you imagine, you create a reality. When you meditate, you should learn to see. Also, be alerted to what comes to mind when you’re praying because God can speak to you at that moment (Acts 2:17).

Focus on scriptures that address healing whenever you are ill. You could benefit from being exposed to healing scriptures. Healing begins on the inside before it shows on the exterior. Therefore, take from what God has given you, examine yourself internally, and let it out. The more you meditate, the more your mind is molded to see yourself as whole. No matter your symptoms, be certain that healing is yours. The devil wants your mind because it will allow him to control your reality. You start shaping your reality with Christ when you give Him control of your thoughts. Practice reading Psalms 23 while visualizing Jesus, the good shepherd, leading you.
