Minister Meshack Mulenda

In Genesis 1:26, God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness,” setting us apart. We bear the image and likeness of God so we can be distinguished from every other creature. This means we have been created to reflect His nature and to function as He does. God set it this way so that we could represent Him and, further, be ambassadors of heaven here on earth (see 2 Corinthians 5).

To bear someone’s image means to possess their character and true nature. If God is Spirit, then that means His Spirit is what He put in man; the Spirit is the Holy Spirit. When God spoke about our “death” after Adam and Eve sinned in Genesis, He was referring to the departure of His Spirit from man. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is who brings about the image of God in us. We will know that we are carriers of the Holy Spirit by the way we live (see Matthew 7:15–18); our actions should evidently reflect God. Galatians 5:22–23 speaks of the fruit of the Spirit, which is the evidence that clearly reflects God’s image. When we yield to the Holy Spirit, He produces in us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are called the ‘fruit’ of the Spirit because they work hand in hand, and if the Holy Spirit dwells in us, they ought to manifest!

Not only do we bear the image of God through the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit, we have also been created to function in God’s power. This is what it means to be in the likeness of God; it is the ability to function as He does. Jesus Christ demonstrated the fullness of God’s power by functioning in the gifts of the Spirit (see Corinthians 12:7-11 and Acts 10:38). These gifts of the Spirit are directly linked to the likeness of God. It is only the Holy Spirit who distributes all these gifts and only He decides what gift each person should have (see 1 Corinthians 12:11). However, let us be reminded that though we can have the gifts of the Spirit, if we do not have love (the image of God), we are nothing. Love, which is at the core of God’s image, empowers us to use the gifts of the Spirit. In other words, the image of God makes it legal for us to use His likeness; therefore, it should always precede the likeness of God.

The image of God is important for all believers to reflect, especially because we live as God’s ambassadors, representing His kingdom on earth. Others should be able to see what it looks like to be from the kingdom. However, not everyone will believe in God by simply reflecting His image. In fact, many will need to see miracles and so this is where the gift of the Spirit comes in. The image of God needs to be so strong in us so that the gift will properly manifest and operate through us. So while we wait for Christ’s return, we also have work to do! We are called to reflect God’s image and to actively demonstrate His power in the world.

In summary, God’s image is illustrated through the fruit of the Spirit. We can carry the image of God by yielding to the Holy Spirit, who will produce the fruit in us, shaping us to reflect God’s character. On the other hand, God’s likeness is demonstrated through the gifts of the Spirit. These are freely given to us by the Holy Spirit for the building up of the church and for the expansion of God’s kingdom here on earth. What makes the gift of the Spirit safe is the fruit of the Spirit, ensuring they are used in love and ultimately for God’s glory. Therefore, let us be faithful image bearers so that we may walk in God’s likeness, faithfully carrying out His Will on earth.

Preacher: Shepherd Joseph Pembamoto

As believers, we are aware of the Love of God in Christ, through whom He reconciled us to Himself (John 3:16). We discover each day that the foundation of our salvation in Christ is a testament of God’s Goodness as we live out our faith. Understanding the gravity of this blessed assurance, we are compelled to respond to the invitation of Christ in John 14:15 by portraying His Character to a world in need of the substance found only in Him, the “True Vine” (2 Corinthians 5:14; John 15:1 & 5).

In the different gifts we have each received from God, He has also established us in spheres of influence, whether it is in our families, in our friendships, at school, work, or in our communities. Called to be ambassadors of Christ, the kingdom of heaven backs us up in the infinite might and wisdom of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 5; Matthew 28:17–18). Only through the Spirit of God can we be legitimate representatives of the kingdom, upholding the values and cultures of heaven here on earth (Romans 8:14-16; 1 Corinthians 2:11-12).

How humbling to know that God overlooked our brokenness and imperfections. He did not consider the angels—His messengers—as more qualified for the task; He instead crowned us in glory and honour (Hebrews 2:7-8). God has not called us to be perfect; He only seeks our availability and willingness. Our infirmities are opportunities for His power to be displayed and for His character to be fully expressed.

Likewise, we were not called to win arguments but to reconcile hearts with the Father in Heaven by demonstrating the Fruit of fellowship with Christ (Galatians 5:22). Joseph excelled in every sphere of influence—even in prison—reminding us that we are the Light of the World because God is the Father of lights (James 1:17). His nature of excellence also transpires in us, if we are willing to believe.

The story of Joseph also teaches us to commit to pleasing God, whether the master is present or not (2 Corinthians 5:9 NKJV). Even when unfair treatments may result from decisions made while prioritizing the Kingdom of Heaven (Genesis 39:7–30), God remains faithful in taking care of all who honour Him (Matthew 6:33).

To be a responsible ambassador of Christ is to seize every opportunity to portray the Love of God in its varied expressions to a world seeking the Savior, Jesus Christ. To be in true with the Holy Spirit and the hearts He seek to heal, to bless an encounter with a gentle and considerate speech, whether in love or in prayer, to stand in the gap of our families and communities, not for our sake, but in the commitment to bring precious souls back to Jesus Christ—such is what a kingdom representative rejoices in.

Minister Meshack Mulenda

God, in His wisdom, has provided us with three key foundational principles to guide our spiritual growth. By understanding and embracing these, we open ourselves up to deepening our knowledge and relationship with God. The first foundation is the ministry of the Word, characterised by a passion for meditating on Scripture. Through the Word, we come to know God more intimately, allowing His truth to shape our lives.

Second, God bestows on us the ministry of the Holy Spirit, who is crucial to comprehending the Word, enabling us to recognize Jesus Christ in all of Scripture. Lastly, God gives us the ministry of a teaching priest—someone to impart the knowledge of God to us. We should always look back at these three areas if we find ourselves at a standstill in our spiritual development.

They not only help us grow but also live fruitful and purposeful lives, reflecting the image and likeness of God (see Genesis 1:26). As we embrace these principles, we can trust that God will draw us even closer to Him as He continues to guide, equip, and transform us.

When the Word of God comes, it must dwell within us before it can be fruitful in our lives. In John 15:7, Jesus Christ invites us to remain in Him as His Word remains in us. When we remain in Him long enough, we experience complete and sure transformation. God’s Word is the raw material for bringing about what is necessary in the present and enduring for the future.

Everything we see today came to pass as a result of the Word God spoke (John 1:3). Genesis depicts the Word of God as the power that sustains and holds all together. For this reason, the enemy is not interested in what we value in the material but rather the very essence of everything, what sustains our lives! Thus, the moment we lose the desire to read the Word, we know we are under attack. Let us then remain anchored in the Word, allowing it to shape and sustain us in every season of our lives

Now the understanding of the Word is crucial for us as it gives us the ability to be wise and live according to God’s Will. Godly wisdom has more to do with works than with words (see Mark 6:2), meaning it is in the application of the Word of God that we show our understanding. Sometimes we get the Word and use something else to interpret it (such as using life circumstances).

Scripture explains Scripture best; we must trust in the wisdom we receive from it. Hebrews 4:2 also shows us that simply having access to the Word is not enough. Without a heart that seeks understanding, we cannot benefit from it and this is dangerous because the enemy can then easily snatch the Word away from us (see Matthew 13:19). Our understanding of the Word is what allows it to take root, thus producing lasting fruit in our lives.

Knowledge of the Word also comes with responsibility. Oftentimes we receive the Word but don’t stay long enough to understand what it requires of us. Our sins or righteousness do not affect our ability to know what to do, as those have already been dealt with at the cross. Rather, our effectiveness is only as much as our capacity to understand the Word and so we should not be ignorant (biblically, this means foolish). Thankfully, the Holy Spirit, who deals with foolishness, also empowers wisdom. So let us yield to His leadership and guidance.

Fruitfulness is a product of a seed (see 2 Corinthians 9:10) and that seed is the Word of God. Proverbs 11:24 gives us a strategy for fruitfulness, being that the one who scatters more increases more. If we violate biblical principles such as this—such as holding back or failing to apply God’s Word—we will find ourselves confessing the Word but not seeing its fruitfulness. Thus, true growth requires the understanding and application of God’s Word in our lives. When we let Scripture and the leadership of the Holy Spirit guide us, we find lasting fruitfulness and strength in our faith journey. By staying rooted in the Word and faithfully submitting to the Holy Spirit, we can reflect the image and likeness of Christ in all aspects of our lives.

Pastor Elie Hamuli

Identity plays a vital role in our lives, influencing every aspect of our existence. While feelings may dictate our actions and shape our apparent identity, as children of God, we are called to rise above the fluctuations of emotions. Jesus redeems us by restoring our eternal identity in Him.

As descendants of Adam, we inherited a sinful nature, identified as sinners through his disobedience (Romans 5:19). Our own efforts, no matter how good, cannot redeem us. Adam’s disobedience corrupted our thoughts, desires, and emotions, separating us from God’s intended joy, contentment, and peace.

Do you feel exhausted, guilty, fearful, restless, sad, or overwhelmed? Don’t let these emotions define you. Acknowledge them, then let God’s Word guide you back to the underlying need and solution. “I feel, therefore I need.” Let these emotions point you to the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Through Jesus’ obedience, the second Adam, our identity is restored to God’s likeness (2 Corinthians 10:5). Our emotions now emanate from our restored identity in Christ, not our fallen nature. God provided Christ as the perfect offering, fulfilling the old covenant sacrifices (Leviticus 1-7). His death accomplished the Father’s will, bringing peace, friendship, and harmony between us and God.

At the Cross, Christ took on the consequence of our sin, forgiving us and overriding Adam’s legacy (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Preacher: Pastor Elie Hamuli

In today’s world, people are often encouraged to define themselves by their feelings, embracing the mindset of “I feel, therefore I am.” This approach leads individuals to live according to their emotions rather than their true identity. However, feelings are merely a reflection of our thoughts and can be misleading, especially in a world marred by brokenness, where negative emotions prevail.

According to God’s Word, feelings serve as signals, indicating a need, but should not dictate our identity. Satan’s tactic is to deceive us into believing that our emotions define us, while our true identity is found in Christ, not in fleeting feelings.

The fall of creation has caused our emotions to often veer toward the negative. As John 3:19 and Romans 1:21 explain, fallen humanity is naturally drawn to darkness rather than light, reflecting our inclination toward sinful and destructive thoughts and emotions. These feelings reveal our need for a Savior, highlighting our inability to heal this brokenness on our own.

Christ’s death and resurrection provide a way out of this cycle. He empowers us to overcome the flesh and redeem our minds through the Holy Spirit. By recognizing negative feelings as signals of a deeper need for God’s grace, we can walk in the Spirit and have dominion over our bodies and minds.

In the Garden of Eden, Satan targeted man’s mind, introducing doubt and deception. This illustrates the enemy’s strategy: planting deceptive thoughts that lead to negative feelings and actions. The Bible urges believers to take every thought captive to Christ’s obedience (2 Corinthians 10:1-5), emphasizing the importance of discerning and confronting harmful thoughts.

When we dwell on these thoughts without discernment, we risk allowing them to shape our identity and actions. Romans 12:2 encourages us to renew our thinking and resist conforming to the world’s patterns. Deliverance comes when our minds are captured by Christ’s obedience.

True transformation begins with a shift in focus—from self to Christ. Until we grasp that our identity is rooted in Christ’s finished work, not our efforts, emotions, or circumstances, we will struggle with deceived thinking. Romans 5:19 reminds us that we are made righteous through Christ’s obedience, freeing us from guilt and shame.

As we focus on Jesus and His finished work of the cross, a genuine love for Christ grows within us, and we become worshippers.

Preacher: Jonathan Kongolo

It is human nature to constantly search for understanding, to learn, and to know about the truth. But what is it about the truth that brings a sense of liberation and freedom when found? In John 8:32, Jesus indicates that coming to the awareness of Truth guarantees our freedom. What truth? We may ask ourselves.

Each one of us holds certain realities as truths dear to them in that they would tarnish reputation, affect a relationship, or bring shame if shared. These are personal struggles, the truth about which is raw and not always pleasant. Unlike the “Truth that sets free,” these realities further isolate us. In appearance, we portray our best, yet privately, we suffer from depression, anxiety, illness, addiction, or finances.

Jesus Christ affirms in John 14: 6, to our relief, that He is the Truth. His beautiful and powerful Name, “Jesus,” is a testimony that God saves (Matthew 1: 21). When we get to know Him, we are made free from sin and liberated from personal struggles. The Truth in Jesus Christ is a liberating light. Psalms 139:7-11 tells us the light of His Truth searches us even in the bottomless pit of our struggles, redeeming us. He is able not only because He is all-knowing, but because He has been on earth. He has felt our pain, cried tears of sorrow and overcome it.

How often do we step out, asking for help? Delaying the full expression of our identity in Christ comes from keeping our struggles to ourselves. “Lord, save me,” Peter cried out in the storm and Christ held him up (see Matthew 14:30). Concealing the truth of our reality—what we fail at or what we need assistance with—does not prosper us (Proverbs 28: 13). We dismiss the opportunity of experiencing Christ by denying our weakness (1 John 1: 6-9). Freedom, our portion as children of God, is at hand if we are willing to confess to Christ our difficulties.

Trials arise to test the foundations of the truths we hold onto. More than holding on, we are to yearn for freedom. Dwelling in the knowledge of the only Truth under heaven purposed to free us from bondage provides a sure anchor: we are secure in knowing the perfect will of God for us (Jeremiah 29: 11). The enemy comes to distort the image of a loving, caring God in our lives. Yet Jesus Christ wholeheartedly cares about our struggles (1 Peter 5:7). He is approachable. Our cares can be cast on Him.

We are to confess so we may be healed (see James 5:16). The word does not speak about being careless when exposing our struggle to just anybody -this is not to create a ministry of gossip- but it refers to “one another.” James was writing to believers and as such, we need to reach out to fellow believers so we may pray for one another. There are people God has anointed and equipped for your sake.

We may be under the impression that we have to be perfect Christians, but we can be the most broken and still be perfect for God. God’s hand can stretch out to where we are and save us. There is nothing we have gone through that can shake God. It is His will for us to be free. It was not our desire but God’s, to be free. In all pursuits, search to know the Truth in Christ. Buy it, protect it, carry it, and spread it for free.

PART II

Shepherd Nephtalie B.

Carrying on from the first part, we have learned that the battle of the mind is fought with the correct weapons. Girded with the spiritual truths of the Bible, standing firm in faith, the good fight is fought and believers are set to win battle of the mind. That is for as long as the Bible is kept open.

The Bible, deemed history’s most reliable book, contains 66 books by different authors, across three continents. Yet It remains consistent in conveying the message of Jesus Christ. Holy and sacred book, It timelessly equips us for the warfare of the mind. By immersing ourselves in the Word of God, we centre ourselves on what is true and honorable to God, overcoming gloomy and depressing thoughts in the mind (Phillipians 4: 8).

It takes one person to open the Bible to draw from God’s infinite Wisdom, from His life-giving Word. Away from it, confusion and restlessness in the mind soon take hold of us. Encouraging us to visit and meditate on the Word as much as we need to. Therefore, in approaching the Bible, we must acknowledge it as the infallible and true Word of God, relevant for all situations (see John 17:7 and 2 Timothy 3:16–17).

We must believe that it is life and light, guiding and convicting us (see Psalm 119:105). It sets the standard for righteous living and holiness, helping us look more like Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit (see Psalm 12:6). It teaches us that we are not condemned. Nullifying all accusations, whether present or future, by Satan.

Faith in the Author, God, fosters in us an attitude of reverence towards the Bible (Psalms 12:6-7). Since God values His Word and placed it above His Name (Psalms 138:2), we should also value it. Thus, our minds are made receptive to the instruction in the Word when we believe that It holds the very authority of God. We should therefore let the Word lead us as looking for loopholes or translations that suit our preferences limits us.

Utilizing the Bible to its fullest inspires us to keep it open, applying Truth to our lives (James 1:22). Reading it with the Author spares us from misinterpretation and confusion, which hinder. Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit conveys to us God’s intent, making His perfect Will for each one known to us (1 Corinthians 2:11–12, John 14:16–26). In our meditations, our spirit is kindled when we seek Jesus Christ, the literal Word of God made flesh.

In closing, we have many reasons to have our Bible opened. It is the platform for an encounter with God. It supernaturally conveys God’s desire for us not to go through tough situations alone. It sharpens our discernment. With it, we see that a life built on the foundation of Jesus Christ holds despite challenges. God’s Word guides and protects us from the winds and pressures of life, keeping us sober in the battle of the mind. By immersing ourselves in God’s Word, we embrace a life of empowerment, free from sin, because Christ lives in us (John 15:7-9).

PART 1

Shepherdess Deborah Kangudja

What is on your mind as you read in this instant? You might be considering the title of this text or pondering your life. Whatever it is, the endpoint is that before any action is performed, it begins as a thought in the mind. Therefore, the mind represents a battlefield with competing thoughts and perceptions that shape our lives and experiences.

In Ephesians 6:12, the Apostle Paul informs believers that the battles we face are not physical but are rather spiritual, encouraging us to be ready (see verse 13). Thus, equipping ourselves with the appropriate spiritual weapons is imperative. Whether through our eyes or ears, we are to let our mind be governed only by the Word of God, which we should carefully guard (Proverbs 4: 20-22). When we let our thoughts be influenced by the world, we dull our weapons for battle.

Daily infusion of God’s Word, constant fellwoship with Christ and sensitive ears to the Holy Spirit, keep us from stumbling in battle, while making way for Christ’s power to be manifested. In keeping Christ as our focus, we turn away destructive thoughts. Whether through dreams or visions, Christ gives our minds what to see. His Word as our lenses. When we have seen through His Word, the Truth is tangible, and hope at hand. In all this, we need faith to utter with our mouth what our mind sees (Hebrews 11:1)

If we lack faith, fear and doubt creep into our minds. Consider the stories of Eve in the garden (Genesis 3) and of Jesus Christ in the wilderness, respectively (Matthew 4). Both tempted by the devil, but Christ, withstood him with God’s Written Word. Eve, on the other hand, was instilled with imagery that portrayed the fruit as more important than God’s instruction. Deceived, despite knowing the Truth, after the devil had inspired doubt in her mind.

We learn the threefold strategy used by the devil attacking Christ’s humanity. Firstly hunger, symbolising the “WHAT” question of our lives. Jesus, hungry after 40 days of fasting, was tempted by Satan to turn stones into bread. But Christ was deeply hungry for spiritual nourishment over physical needs, emphasising the importance of God’s Word.

Secondly, identity, symbolysing the “WHO” question. Here, just as Christ is proclaimed as God’s beloved Son after His baptism, Satan challenges it (see Matthew 3: 12 and Matthew 4: 6). Yet again, Jesus countered it with God’s Word, a reference for us whenever we face an identity crisis.

Lastly, reality, symbolising the “HOW” question. Satan tempted Jesus with a promise of power and glory (see verse 9). Jesus, aware of His inherent authority and the reality of His mission, rebuked Satan, saying again, “It is written and forever remains,” emphasising the permanence and unchanging truth of God’s Word (verse 10).

This highlights the need to confront deceptions about our reality with the truth of Scripture, recognizing that what God has for us is already ours, not to be obtained through worldly means. By keeping the Bible open and engaging with its Truth, we ensure we are continuously equipped with God’s armour (Ephesians 6: 11), safeguarding our minds against contradictions and deceptions from the enemy. This armour extends beyond physical readiness, influencing our thoughts and perceptions.

Receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior means actively being out and about for the Kingdom of God. This involves a genuine passion for and involvement in the salvation of others. A born-again Christian willingly participates in various ministry activities, such as sharing the Gospel, caring for the sick, engaging in youth events, evangelistic campaigns, or contributing tithes and offerings.

When we ultimately receive Christ, His position in our life is often challenged by people or things in a way that clashes with His perfect will for us. However, when we encounter challenges to our faith or commitment to Christ, we must know how to overcome them as we serve Him.

Contrary to popular belief, it’s often the things we hold dear that can challenge our surrender to Jesus Christ. For example, our wealth, as mentioned in Matthew 19:20-21, or our family and close relationships, as highlighted in Exodus 32:29, may stand between us and our growth in Christ. Other potential challenges may include our personal goals and desires.

Until we recognize that Jesus Christ’s authority and His voice must have precedence over any other voices we’ve followed throughout our lives, it will be challenging to fully embrace our salvation journey of serving Him.

Being out and about for Christ also includes contributing to the Kingdom of God through service and worship. God, as our loving Father, not only provides for our daily needs but also grants us wisdom. He uses times of prosperity to prepare us for times of need, as seen in Genesis 41:28-36. Giving can be challenging because it may seem like God always asks us to give during inconvenient times. However, when God calls us to give, He generously blesses us in return.

Luke 16:9 illustrates the mindset Jesus wants His followers to adopt: using our resources selflessly to win souls for the Kingdom of God.

This not only garners favor among people on Earth but also accumulates treasures of eternal value in God’s Kingdom. Being out and about also means treating people well, even when we don’t immediately benefit from them. We may wonder, “Out and about but where?” Our natural inclination is to move away from crisis situations, but wisdom in crisis involves listening to where God wants us to be.

When God instructs us to stay in a crisis, He equips us to thrive, often to the point of stirring jealousy in those who sought solutions outside of God. Our plans should be a means to God and not represent an end in themselves (Proverbs 16:9).

In conclusion, being out and about calls us to invest in the Kingdom of God. As the Bible says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Safeguarding our hearts, as advised in Proverbs 4:23, entails investing our treasures in matters of God. This is the key to being good stewards of the resources in our lives, submitting them to God. Advancing the Kingdom of God is the most significant investment we can ever make.

Shepherd Elie Hamuli

The most common question we ask ourselves or others is if it is possible to stop sinning. The Bible says that nothing is impossible for those who believe (Mark 9:23), which implies that not sinning is also possible. It is the propensity to sin that will always exist but its existence does not imply that we should yield to it. The Devil implants a thought in your flesh in order for you to own it and subsequently act on it. However, that thought may remain in your flesh without you acting on it.

It is of vital importance to know that as a Christian, there is no sin that God cannot forgive. We have a tendency to believe that God keeps track of our transgressions but He maintains no record of sin for those who are in Jesus Christ (Read Romans 8:1). This means, that all past, present, and future sins are forgiven the moment we accept Jesus Christ. Now the understanding of the forgiveness of sin is what causes it to come to a halt, for it will not happen by our own strength but by the strength of the Almighty (God). Romans 5:19 tells us that we became sinners because Adam sinned, taking his nature and likewise became righteous by taking Christ’s nature.

Righteousness is a state of being in Christ that is not reliant on whether we do good or evil things; if it were so, it would be impossible for us to meet God’s standard; therefore we were made righteous through Christ’s obedience. Job, for example, predicated his righteousness on his performance until he later understood, and said, as a prophecy – of the coming of Christ, if only there was someone to stand between him and God. Only then will we be in the right standing with God and this is the person of Jesus Christ.

In John 8:1-11, Jesus tells the woman accused of adultery to go and sin no more. “Sin no more”, implies that there is a possibility to no longer sin. However, this is not to say that the flesh no longer exists and is made completely perfect; it still exists, with the propensity to sin. On the contrary, what it implies is that if we understand that we are not condemned, we will cease the will to sin for condemnation is what causes guilt (Read 2 Corinthians 5:17) which leads us back to sin. Furthermore, 1 John 2:1 tells us that if we sin (“if” implying that we may), we have an advocate (Jesus Christ) who pleads on our behalf.

Having said that, we are also reassured that because the Spirit of God lives in us, we have the ability to not respond to the flesh in adherence with the ‘Law of the Spirit’ (see 1 John 3:8-9). The Spirit of God motivates us to do the things that God loves. We can’t do that on our own but with the power of the Holy Spirit. As a result, we don’t willfully sin but willfully do the things that God loves (for example, reading His Word, fellowshipping, or doing good).

Thus the revelation of forgiveness of sin will break the bondage of sin. If we rely on sanctifying ourselves before approaching God, we will not have the time to deal with every single sin; we may not even recall them all, but God knows all of them. So, instead of judging our standing based on our behaviors, we should judge our behaviors from our standing because our true identities come from what Jesus did, not what we did. Notice that every mistake has an adjective; and rather than merely observing the mistakes, we appropriate the adjective to ourselves (for example, I stole so I’m a thief). We are with Christ in heavenly realms, far above any mistakes therefore we are not what we do in action (sin); this is a lie from the Devil.

Going back to the woman who was caught in adultery; according to the Law, if you are caught in adultery, you will be stoned. Notice that Jesus wrote twice on the stones. This was to show that He is the One who wrote the Law – He is Lord over the Law. Therefore, no one could cast the first stone because they had all sinned, and according to the same Law, if you break one law, you are guilty of all. Jesus was the only blameless One, He was the only One who could cast the stone on her, but He did not. For this reason, don’t let sinners condemn you while Jesus does not; when you are knowledgeable about this, you are then empowered to stop sinning.

According to Colossians 2:13, God forgives all sin. Since humans can only forgive certain sins like the ones in the present but not the ones to come, it required someone who was out of time to forgive everything [Jesus Christ]. Therefore, if you give your life to Christ, ALL your sins will be forgiven. When you accept Christ as your Saviour, you become a new person- spiritually, not a ‘newborn’, but complete in Him (see Romans 8:9). However, salvation is still an ongoing process for your soul because your mind is still accustomed to the flesh (see Romans 7:18), but when you are exposed to the Word, listen to it, and understand your position in Christ, it sets you free and reminds you of who you’ve become in Him. The body (flesh) will be saved in the future and only then will there be no propensity to sin.

Therefore, God sees you in your spirit (the new person that you are) rather than your flesh. For example, Abraham had a son, Ishmael, before Isaac but Isaac is referred to as the only son because he was a product of faith and Ishmael, a product of flesh. Furthermore, David could see, in Romans 4:6-8, that there will come a time when God won’t recognize sin in His people because of Jesus Christ.

The forgiveness of sin is crucial because the person we want to be like is Jesus, and if you want to be like Him but are afraid to approach Him, you will be distant and unable to reflect His image. If you desire to be like Him and understand that there is no condemnation in Him, you will be closer to Him and this proximity will cause you to resemble Him. Instead of being ‘sin-conscious’, be ‘forgiving-conscious’. Therefore, rather than chasing behaviors, pursue proximity. Be close to God, serve Him, and do good. Do good because the Bible tells us that we overcome evil by doing good (Read Romans 12:21). This is only possible if we are close to Him because the ‘Law of the Spirit’ will apply and help us as a result of our proximity.

Finally, the more you consider who He is, the more you desire to be like Him. We see this in the woman who heard about Jesus and that He was nearby. She went to see Him despite the fact that He was in a house full of people who would judge her (Read Luke 7:36-50). What you hear about Jesus will determine your proximity or distance from Him and sometimes what you’re seeking can be found in the spot where you’ll be judged. But just as Jesus rebuked the Pharisee based on his thoughts, He will rebuke those who judge you before they even speak!

The parable Christ used (Luke 7:41-23) helps us understand that it is only when we realize how bad we are, that will persuade us to love Him even more. With that being said, remember that God forgives all sins, regardless of our past, present, or future, and that it is our right standing with God that really matters; not our mistakes, and what He demonstrated on the cross was a sign of His great love for us (see John 3:16). Jesus Christ, the Mediator is the only person who can stand between you and God hence the more proximity there is, the more you become Christ-like. Due to this, we are filled with the Holy Spirit who motivates us to do God-loving things, preventing us from non-willful sinning. Therefore, do not let sin bully you!
